Neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Xeomin) are the most popular single cosmetic procedure in the US, and we provide them at Icon Med Spa. Injectable neurotoxins interrupt that signal that tells your muscles to contract. They are injected into the muscles to reduce wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements, such as squinting, frowning, and raising your eyebrows. Neurotoxins work beneath the surface and can temporarily improve the appearance of:
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Moderate to severe forehead lines
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Xeomin) are prescription medicines injected into the muscle that temporarily improve moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults caused by muscle movement.

  • How do Neurotoxins work?

Neurotoxins target one of the most common underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines — the repetitive muscle contractions we do daily. From frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising eyebrows over the years, these movements lead to visible signs of aging. By injecting the muscles, the neurotoxin will temporarily reduce muscle activity.

  • How much time does the treatment take? Will it hurt?

We will perform a facial analysis and discuss your treatment goals to determine the appropriate treatment areas. If you are a candidate, the injection may take place on that same day. Most patients report no pain associated with treatment. Some patients report that being injected with neurotoxins feels like a small pinch. Ice may be used to numb the treatment area.

  • Is there downtime after treatment?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. You can return to your routine almost immediately after treatment.

  • How long does it take to see results from Neurotoxins?

You will notice results within 24-48 hours. You will see the most significant result after 14 days, with results lasting up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines. Results vary, so your next appointment will be based on your results and aesthetic goals.

Dermal Fillers

The natural aging process makes our skin more susceptible to wrinkles and fine lines caused by muscle movement and sun damage. Hyaluronic acid injections, made from a naturally occurring moisture-binding substance found in the human body, are used to restore facial contours and improve multiple signs of aging. Dermal fillers most commonly:
  • Smooth lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
  • Enhance and restore lost volume to cheeks and temples
  • Soften vertical lip lines
  • Plump and hydrate the lips
  • Smooth out a chin crease
  • Improve symmetry among facial features

They can also raise depressions from scars and soften wrinkles. Being treated with hyaluronic acid helps add volume to different areas of the face, temporarily restoring the volume loss beneath the surface. FDA-approved fillers include:

  • The Juvéderm Collection
  • Restylane Product Line
  • Revanesse Versa
  • Belotero Balance

  • What are Dermal Fillers?

Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the body, and are used to eliminate wrinkles, add volume and hydration to lips, and replace volume loss.

  • How do Dermal Fillers work?

HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like, which helps keep skin plump and hydrated when injected. The results are not permanent, lasting 6 to 12 months before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.

  • Will the treatment be painful?

During your initial appointment, we will discuss the appropriate treatment for you. If you are a candidate, the injection may take place the same day. The area to be treated will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area before injection for additional comfort. Your provider will inject a precise amount of filler methodically under the skin. Most patients report that being injected feels like a pinch or slight burning sensation.

  • When will I see the results?

Results are typically visible immediately after receiving injections.

  • How long will I see results?

Results vary but may last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the area being treated. Injections in the lips will last less time than those in the nasolabial folds. The longevity of the effects of your injections depends on the product, the area of treatment, and the patient. Certain hyaluronic fillers, such as Voluma, are formulated to last longer but are limited to the cheeks.

  • Will I need time to recover?

Swelling and mild bruising can occur for up to one week, depending on your body’s response to treatment and the number of doses injected. You may resume your regular activities after treatment, but you should avoid exercise for 24 hours. Give yourself two weeks before any event or vacation.

  • Will I need additional treatments?

Since fillers are a temporary solution, you will need additional treatments. We will discuss the number of additional treatments during your initial appointment.
